Tips for Your Resume

A biography or a curriculum vitae should be the candidate's showcase. When writing it, we recommend that you follow a number of points:

Structuredness

The curriculum vitae should have a clear form and structure, headings, points. In other words, it should be clear so that you can quickly navigate it and find the necessary information. At the same time, it should at first glance give the impression that the candidate put some effort into it. A recruitment specialist can navigate a well-written resume in about 7 seconds, so keep in mind that the resume also makes a first impression that matters.

Truth

All information provided by the candidate on the CV must be truthful and up-to-date. This applies to both job titles and job description, as well as length of practice, level of knowledge of languages and programs. We know from practice that the language and computer level is often overestimated by candidates. However, if the candidate states a higher level of knowledge of the language than the reality, he/she must count on an experienced recruiter will reveal it. For positions where a foreign language is required, it is standard that the candidate undergoes a telephone conversation in the given language, the mastery of which is a condition for an invitation to a personal interview.

Accuracy

In the curriculum vitae, individual job positions should be precisely limited in time. It is recommended to indicate the month and year when the work experience started and ended, e.g. 03/2016 - 09/2019. If the job position is still ongoing, it can be stated, e.g. 03/2016 - present.

Content

When writing a CV, its content is crucial. Each position should be described by several points that are so detailed that they create a realistic picture of the job description, knowledge and competences of the candidate. On the other hand, there should be room for the candidate to describe his/her knowledge and competences in more detail at the job interview, ideally on examples from practice.

Graduate Curriculum Vitae

Graduates represent a specific group of job seekers who usually think more about its form and content when writing a CV, as they have less work experience. The curriculum vitae of the graduate should be imaginative and attractive. Today, there are many platforms that can inspire you how to upgrade your CV. The focus should be on the work experience that the graduate has gained during his/her studies, on projects in which he/she has participated, on foreign internships, or on honors and awards that he/she has achieved. The graduate may also be interested in a short introduction, where he/she describes himself/herself as a personality, his/her motivation, goals, vision and his/her added value, which distinguishes him/her from other graduates. Of course, there should be an adequate photo, usually of a rather formal nature, with a slight smile, on a neutral background.
