Tips to Set Yourself Apart

There are several ways a candidate can express his/her added value:

References

Positive references are one of the most recognized tools for candidates to differentiate themselves and gain a strong competitive advantage. The candidate may request them from the employer or a supervisor in writing when leaving employment. If such references are not available, the candidate may be asked to submit them during the selection process, or they are identified by other methods. In any case, they are important.

LinkedIn Profile

Today, social networks are irreplaceable also in the world of work. LinkedIn is the most used social network by recruiters. A candidate may be approached via LinkedIn with job offers, provided that his/her profile is sufficiently engaging and inclusive. A LinkedIn profile can be considered as a form of an online CV by which a candidate presents himself/herself, while at the same time he/she can build his/her own network of contacts, publish posts or articles and thus make himself/herself visible in the environment in which he/she needs. At the same time, LinkedIn serves not only recruiters in the search for suitable candidates, but also candidates in the search for job offers.

Cover Letter

Currently, a cover letter is less often required, but the fact is that it can tell us a lot about the candidate. In a cover letter, a candidate outlines his/her goals, ambitions, strengths, as well as the reasons why he/she decided to respond to the position. A cover letter is always written specifically for a specific position and its content should be adapted to it. As it is a coherent text, the composition and complexity of sentences, their logical continuity, grammatical and stylistic correctness are also significant.
