Embedded Software Development Lead

Job description, responsibilities and duties

• Team Leadership: Manage and lead the Software Design team, including overseeing disciplinary responsibilities and ensuring adherence to safety, health, and internal company regulations, as well as quality standards.
• Development Planning and Coordination: Plan and supervise all software development activities in collaboration with other departments, including Project and System Management, Hardware Design, Software Testing, Product Design, and Reliability Engineering. Estimate development efforts in terms of time and cost, prepare timelines for hardware-related designs, and oversee software releases.
• Standards and Guidelines: Maintain and enforce software development standards, such as software design guidelines and handbooks, ensuring their practical application by the team.
• Resource and Performance Management: Manage team resources and workforce, monitor progress, and conduct quality assurance based on team results. Implement and evaluate the team’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) monthly.
• Development Process Organisation: Organise the software design and development process, including creating software concepts and architectures, simulations, algorithm selection, software flowcharts, and generating reports for various applications (e.g., industrial, robotics, medical, and automotive).
• Requirement Analysis and Coordination: Collaborate with colleagues, customers, suppliers, and other departments to analyse requirements and develop software concepts. Manage software design internal specifications and task assignments within the team.
• Design and Testing Oversight: Conduct design reviews, approve software designs in development, review and approve test specifications, plans, and reports, and ensure the preparation and approval of technical documentation related to software.
• Partnership Management: Organise cooperation with internal and external partners, including clarifying costs, timelines, and task coordination.
• Problem Escalation: Ensure timely communication with superiors if issues arise that cannot be resolved within the team.
